I have been away from UF much too long... Therefore this image took me several evenings until it was kind of completed.
It's nice to be active again after a break...

It's great to have you back! Your render looks like an exotic dish served in a square plate! I'm not sure the frame fits very much, but the content of the "dish" is very rich in shape and texture. I love the background soft design.
SWEET! I'm glad your back in action Andreas. Super textures. I find the color of the outer-most frame a bit distracting, but the peice itself is just marvelous.

I don't think I've ever seen a whole spiral before, very impresssive. Love the elegantly textured worlds that seem to be following the path to the center of their universe. Terrific image!

Andreas, what everyone else says. It's got sort of a KPK feel to it without the KPK tiles. I like it better without the frame, but I don't like frames in general. I think they should be made of wood, not pixels.
Well, it doesn't need the frame-- though the frame is interesting in its own right. It's a wonderful composition--I'm partial to complete spirals and I've never seen one with the dimensionality, texture and chalky just sketched quality of this one. I love the colors too. probably would have loved the frame if it had that distressed metal rust look. Particularly like the crude near random deformations of the black spiral.

It's wonderful to see you posting again! I love this image. It seems lighter than your usual and every bit as wonderful. As always, your textures are amazing. I love your parent/child icon as an added bonus. :) As to the frame, it looks like an elegant plate set on an interesting tablecloth. I like it.

i have had a look on historic city-maps of mainz (germany) a few months ago. they had a very similar coloring to this picture. even the touch of yellowed paper looks authentic. i like it a lot!

I really like the painted look this gets from the outstanding texture work you've done, Andreas. Excellent and different spiral! (maybe a different color for the frame? No biggie, though - I like the pattern)
