Description
The corridors were lit by a bluish-white light that seemed to emanate from
everywhere and yet nowhere in particular.
"Rip, anything to report?"
The android paused in mid-stride, twisted slightly and looked over his left
shoulder. A deep voice, only slightly tinny and mechanical sounding,
supplied the answer to the question, "My sensors are registering only
ourselves, Sergeant Lewis."
"Rip, just call me Philip."
"As you wish, Sergeant Philip."
"No, no, no! Just Philip. No Sergeant, just Philip."
"As you wish, Sir."
Sergeant Lewis shook his head and muttered "Good grief." Aloud he said,
"Great. Let's go. I don't want to be in here any longer then I have to.
Those gun-runners are using this place for something and we're going to
find out just what."
Rip turned back around and continued down the oddly lit corridor with the
Sergeant following at a slight distance. Neither were aware of it, but
trouble lay just ahead and they were walking squarely into it.
