Description
Ganymede has had a complex geological history. It has mountains, valleys, craters and lava flows. Ganymede is mottled by both light and dark regions. It is heavily cratered especially in the dark regions implying ancient origin. The bright regions show a different kind of terrain - one which is grooved with ridges and troughs. These features form complex patterns and have a vertical relief of a few hundred meters and run for thousands of kilometers. The grooved features were apparently formed more recently than the dark cratered area perhaps by tension from global tectonic processes. The picture of Jupiter is a 360 degree picture shot by the Galileo space probe than mapped to a 3D sphere. The rings, terrain and terrain mat were also created and rendered in Bryce by me from scratch. The atmosphere and starfield were created during postwork in both Photoshop and Universe. Thanks again for taking a peek and commenting on my work.
Cheers,
David

Yet another masterpiece! Can you do a bad illustration one day just to prove you are human and not the artist of the gods? :):) Never stop your illustrative journey round the universe. Bob Rixon aka Hangfire
Your pic is marvelous, your skill is unparalleled. My vote!
Terrains are the star in this image. Sooo well textured!
My favorite moon.
Nice job!
I love your image of the terrain and too i had been trying to come up with this terrain type for quiet a while but looks like you beat me there. I hope to seem more from you except for the fact that Jupiter looks to while and needs a tad more color and a bit darker since it is pretty far from the sun.
This is just superb. There's no other word for it. Great textures and a great result.
I forgive you for this slight off-Mars distraction. Great anyway.
Seems like a nice place to put a resort of some kind. The Ganymede Hilton perhaps. Well, I guess the lack of air could be a problem. Fantastic image.
