Description
Last year we found Morel mushrooms, in the city limits, down by the old Mississippi River!! About a dozen or so!! So this Spring I have been diligently checking that spot, on the way home from work. Thursday I found two, just feet from where we found them last year. My wife suggested we go to the dog park, in a heavily wooded area, by the Mississippi River. I found four more. Not alot, but the season has just begun. We hope to look Saturday and Sunday.
Have a great weekend!!!

Mmm, mushrooms! Actually I've never even heard of these. They must be good if you're this happy about it. :-) Nice work with the collage. I like the identifying shots of them growing and the size reference with the golf ball. Those things are HUGE!
Oh nice find.. I used to go out looking for these every weekend when I lived in the mountains.. I have found that after a rain.. they pop up everywhere..but they dont last long.. so go after it rains.. within 12-24 hours after it rains.. you will find alot of them =)
Very interesting shots! Never saw those either! Thx for sharing Eric! :) And enjoy them! ;)
Yummy! I love these mushrooms. We have them here as well as puffballs which are also good to eat. Thanks for these photos.
the dog park? hope you wash 'em well... never tried these... i do like mushrooms! :d ...very nice documentary :]
Oh, yeah, they are very tasty and I love to paint them , their texture is wonderful! Wish you luck!
you lucky devil! keep it secret! keep it safe!
Very cool hunting...
awesome array of fungi!!! you got lotsa schooms down there!!! :o)
I used to hunt this when younger and growing up in southwest Missouri. Nice cool woodlands around my home there. Some years we'd find enough to fill several large grocery bags (the paper bags). Now I live in a warmer climate. They are here too but not as many and so so hard to find when you get out of practice. The two things I love about morels: 1) They are uniquely easy to identify and cannot be confused with poisonous mushrooms. and of course 2) is that they taste soooooo gooooood. (Where near the Mississippi do you live?)
