Description
The panoramic camera on the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity shows the impact crater known as "Endurance" in the 20+ meg NASA picture at
http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/press/opportunity/20040506a/01-SS-01-Endurance-B101R1.jpg . I was interested in the fractal forms of the sand in the bottom center of the crater, so I cropped the picture in a 7:1 aspect ratio and then changed it to a 4:3 ratio, and modified the contrast, brightness, and saturation of the image to enhance the form. I never would have guessed the bottom of an eroded crater could hold such an interesting form.
