Description
Well... This image originally started life as a fire test, but somehow grew into this. The sea took a surprising amount of time to render (9h 56min) but was worth it I think. I have also for the first time (I think) used people in my render (two to be exact). They are the default boy and man in poser4 in two default running positions (just because I did not want to give the impression that anyone died in the fire).
Hope you like it, and I would be interested to hear your opinions on the fire, as it was the reason I made this scene.
Take care

Oh and no post work.
Fire is really well done, also POV and all image are really nice... i think your photo will go in my "vue artist - elimination Board..." :)
excellent work and effects
The fire is spectacular! It looks totally realistic. Good picture in general.
Fire with smoke is particularly well worked
No post??? Wow! That's really well done, Gareth!! Love that fire and the smoke is really amazing! Very, very cool!! I like the waves too.
Brilliant smoke. And where is a brilliant smoke there must be a brilliant fire too. Ah, now i see it! Fantastic. Do i believe the "no postwork"? Yes i do, even when i can't imagine how you have done that. Excellent study, you see me very impressed!
Great fire! Very realistic and the smoke effect is really good. Fantastic water effects. A wonderful image.
I played around with fire for a long time - never got such a realistic effect. Excellent, Gareth!
Well opinions about the fire were called for right? Amazing, plain and simple. I love the pic, I think its great, but my eye keeps getting drawn to the fire for several reasons... Firstly like Walther I am at a complete loss as to how you have created it. Secondly it has a 'real' fire quality to it thats hard to explain what i mean (but i will try).. When fire burns it sticks to certain areas and kinda bunches up, it also licks around edges of things, and tapers off and breaks up at the ends where its hottest. Your fire has all of that, and I cant remeber the last time I was so impressed by a fires 'realism' An absolutely stunning result Gareth, an experiment that paid off brilliantly!
Excellent job on the fire and smoke! No postwork?! Very impressive, Gareth. Very well done!
Superb fire & smoke...very realistic. Well done:)
Excellent work with the fire. The smoke this brilliant one. Great use of volumetric textures volumetrics. Conclusion: effects fire and smoke very realist.
First of all Id like to thank you all for your comments. I am glad you liked it. This image was intended (like I said above) to be a test on fire, but a distance shot like you see here. However, I am currently working on a close up shot using Eric Smits Temple. I dont think Ill be turning this render into a scene. It is just the fire and smoke( which is being a pain in the @ as it is close up). You think you were impressed with the fire this time Kutter...lol The next render will blow your mind, but Ill let you tell me that...lol. Thank you once again everyone, for your kind words and the motivational push you all give me to produce something better the next time round. Take care:)
excellent artwork! The fire is looks spectacular.
Oh yes ... stunning fire effect... really excellent
Very impressive work on the fire/smoke, an excellent scene all round - well done!!
Very excellent fire and smoke,,, great scene!
I am very impressed with the fire (no post). Well done and looking forward to your next fire scene. Also impressed with the water and splash work. An overall excellent image with quite a few triumphs. Well done.
Uh oh, someone tipped over the barbecue grill! Amazing job, Gareth, just repeating what everyone else says, the fire and smoke are incredible!
Not too sure about the morality of burning down the home of those poor Poser people, just so you could do a fire test Gareth, lol. Its a splendid job, and does look realistic, the smoke and flames are a great success, the overall image is great too, very creative work. Dave
Well the fire looks awesome, as do the splashes on the rocks, as does the whole image. One of your best I think!
Fantastic image! Excellent fire and smoke .. very well done!
Impressive.Love the fire effect.
Outstanding work!
One really could take that fire for a photo! It's absolutely fantastic. I also like the shimmering, sparkling water in the foreground that is a nice contrast to the heat of the fire.
Exceelent fire effects and yes, the water work was worth the render time!
Fantastic effects and scene, definitely worth the render time. Well done.
Fantastic image , the fire looks awesome in this as well , very well done:-)
