Description
Some folks relaxing on a roof-top patio-like area. As we walked around the city walls, we noted a bunch of places like this. Had me wondering about how high the snow really got here.
The odd title goes back to my days in England. One of the local ladies tutored French and German to pick up some spare cash. I'd just returned from a lightning tour of (then) West Germany and Austria and was commenting on a fancy roof (Goldener Dachl IIRC and spell correctly). She asked me if I noticed any dogs on the roof. Or any other roof for that matter. Now I love to joke, so I figured I was being set up. No, quite seriously I was told that Dachshunds get their name from the word for roof: Dach. Long story cut off. Actually, they get their name from Dachs - badger. The little short-legged runts were bred to go down badger holes and not up chimneys to sit on the roof. However, I still think of dachshunds as 'roof pooches.' Maybe I need a new beer?
Enjoy; thanks for viewing and listening.
