Description

Version 2 in a series with a different real Martian surface material from NASA's Spirit. The Rover is scaled to matronauts this time instead of reduced in size in order to play perspective tricks on the viewer as in first picture. Tinkered a bit with the spacesuits and gave each matronaut a unique pose. As you can see, Ethel's contacts have finally been found.

Great job reworking it! I find the rover to be much more interesting in this version, which is good because it shows off your handiwork better.

Good going Ethel! Real textures and scale are excellent! The rover is seriously big and comfortable, like a Cadillac "Marscalade"! This could easily be a Popular Science cover next month.

LOL; Hope she has a really strong solution for cleaning that contact in case there is life on Mars.

Great atmosphere, it actually IS very Mars-like! Only the background terrain is a bit low res, blocky... But the lighting and modeling is very cool!

The rover is tops. Your concept of Mars is just what I see on the NASA site - whenever they post pictures (never enough). Women on Mars? darn right - why not? Learn what high radiation and low gravity does on their physic. cooper muscles for one thing. . Keep the great work coming my friend. :-)

Shadowdragonlord, yes, the terrain tends to be blocky but there is nothing I can do about it. That's how the B5 Terrain Editor makes it and it is a great source of frustration to me. Thanks, Everybody, for the nice comments. Very encouraging. Wait until you see the scene I'm working on from inside the Rover. I'm adding a control panel with holographic "instruments" that actually glow in the dark! Be awhile before you get to see it, though. Jeremy (Kjer)

Bungalo, if you think the MR5 is big, wait until you see the MR4. It makes the Rover Five look tiny. There is a reason for both being so large-sized. The yet-to-be-seen MR4 is literally a mobile mars scientific exploration base. These are vehicles for a time when there are actually human settlements on Mars, but these units go out for three months or more at a time, only coming back to resupply and do R&R for the crew (or spend time with their loved ones). The MR4 has a crew of about 20 people, and also serice the three crews of the MR5s, which vary from 3 to 5 persons. The smaller "scouts" extend the reach of the larger MR4's exploration range and their crews live in their own vehicles, but they may come over to the larger vehicle for a "day in the park." (There is one on board!) Or to use the larger labs for research and experiments. They are also useful in helping scout routes that can accommodate the larger vehicle.

Pakled, sure there's mom's on Mars. The woman looking at her wrist computer is even a grandma! Two others are mothers. Only the woman with the bodysuit in the Rover is more interested in her career than having a significant other or children. Actually, I think serious consideration should be made for the first human crew to be all women, instead of all men. Women tend to function better in crisis than men. How's that for a dangerous generalization? Ha!

Eixeb007. amazingly enough, yes it is all my own modeling, although I did get the techno materials from the Net and then reworked them slightly.

At the scene of the Lunar (or Marsar?) Rover breakdown..... I don't understand this, she said to Marg, glancing at her watch. He said he'd be here, over an hour ago! I'm tired of waiting, Marg huffed, I am out of here!
