Description
Another insect for my series, this being the Goliath beetle which is one of the largest insects in nature (up to 6 inches in length).
Modeled in Cinema 4D R8.1, textured with Bodypaint R1 using scanns from a wonderful book, NVIDIA dev. tex. for the wood, and my own leaf textures. Rendered using Dosch HDRI Nature probes for lighting.
Thank you for viewing!

Brilliant everything Dez, wonderfull work!
Fantastic!!! Excellent everything!
Nice one Dez! Well textured, but I'd throw that background more out of focus though.
Great job on everything!
Lovely.
hehe! this is brillinat work! i agree with linkin! really nice textures or shaders on the bug!
this looks awesome . very detailed and perfect texturing . i think the left leaves should get some more/brighter speculars ...
awesome as usual :)
discovery channel!!! DeZ you are AMAZING!!!
I'm speechless! The leaf, the beetle.. mmm :)
Quite nice, as always.
I allmost fall silent. Excellent in every way, really great texturing!! :))
Thank you everyone! I had good reference material for this bug and I used scanns which I worked with to get the rich texture. About the DOF, it may seem slight, but but that's because part of the background are models.
Fantastic!!!! I have tried some insect closups myself, and i thought i did pretty well, until i saw this.... Amazing render, amazing textures.
thumbs up !
That's a damned fine render! I can only add my congratulations and respect on such a fine image...
A very solid job! The background could use with a bit of more DOF but it's an excellent rendition of a very big bug :)
If there'd be something better than 'Excellent', then I would use it - simply magnificent: now that's a background pic!
Whoa, you really raised the bar on this one.
