Description
I built the model to experiment with caustics. What better object for an underwater scene than 'The Nautilus'? As of this rendering, the caustics are not happening, but...persistence will carry the day. [I am VERY open to suggestions as to how to make underwater swimming-pool type plays of light happen.]
And for anyone who is even the least bit interested in Verne/Nautilus, this site must not be missed:

In addition to its own excellence, there are a wealth of links to other Nautilus sites, and, as a grand bonus...links to sites dealing with the CSS Hunley. [the Conferderacy's submarine, and the first vessel to carry out a successful underwater attack on an enemy.} Add to this, sites dealing with Civil War ironclads. [a bizaare looking lot] All in 3d. Many rendered in Vue. Not to be missed.

its a nice image kelley, the submarine is awesome. the only flaw would perhaps be the background. its too plain, maybe you could also try some underwater vegetation maybe? and if you can add some bubbles at the end of the submarine or even a blur.
Underwater Caustics are done by using a spotlight and a light gel. In the light options, choose a gel. You will be presented with materials. There is a category for Light Gels. In there, there is one for caustics, choose this one, but this is a procedural one. Edit Material and change to Mapped Picture and then load the wcaustic.bmp which was on the Extras Disk under Scenes/Scenes 2 I think. Anyway, once you load that you should have a gel that will do the caustics for your submarine. You could use volumetrics on that spotlight to get the beams and the light will dance on the submarine as well as the ground...Cool model BTW.
Great model i can see you create, very good underwater scene.
