Description
Hi everyone!
Just trying out a light-dome for resemblance to real soft shadows. Hope you like it.

Tech details: 17 scattered radials set to middle gray, some postwork in Universe for the flare and Photoshop for color/saturation adjustment.

The gemstone is a free model by www.3dlapidary.com -- the website has all genres of gemstones and materials (although in this I applied mine) and explanations, they're beautiful, maybe you want to take a look.

Final note: This image was somewhat inspired by the works of *linkinpark*. If you want to see way better rings than this one, take a look at his gallery, it's awesome!

Have a nice sunday and many thanx for stopping by. As usual, any comment and/or criticism is more than welcome.

I always appreciate this kind of work, so let me try some comments : - did you remove ambient light? If yes it's OK - some strange reflections on the ring on the back. You should blur the reflections to try to remove them, or change the model for a primitive - to my opinion you should change the color of the wood material. The problem is that if you take a more darker wood it will kill the shadows. Difficult. One solution is to completely change the ground material. Sorry for so many suggestions , for a kind of render I like so much ;=)
Well,I think it is wonderful...I love the red diamond, beautiful atmosphere!!!
Hmmm... forgot to mention: the strange shadows on the inner ring are actually a carving. It's a name, and it's intended to be undistinguishable (for personal reasons heheheh). :)
Great Macro work here! That is some of the best rendered marble I've ever seen.
Eccellente lavoro, Stefano. Congratulazioni. :o)
Wonderful work, the textures are very realistic and the jewel is awesome..
Excellent work, Stefano! The gemstone is fascinating! - i love the soft shadows and lighting. Very beautiful!
Beautiful work! I like the hint of the inscription. The jewel is very pretty. Excellent work DC.
Very nice render, looks like it says Riana or Diana. Ooooh, crashy's got a girlyfriend. Runs around to tell everyone
Looks very special to me! The Gemstone and soft reflections are superb Stefano!!
Very impressive lighting and sahadows are3 gr8 Stefano! Whats this I hear about you getting married? ;-D
Very realistic and perfect render. Wonderful piece !
This is excellent, but for my personal tastes, I prefer the 2nd post of this image, the black and white one. Both are excellent, but you have appealed to my fancy and that is the B&W one.
wow i love the pic i also agree above what others said :)
Bellissimo (-: you have done an excellent job and special thanks for your always detailled instructions, so we can learn about it.
Really a great piece of work Stefano. I love the simple design yet one can see the work that has been put in there
I love it, the lighting rocks! it mustve taken forever to render ;) but you did an excellent job on this.
You did it! You really did it! This is awesome work! Beautiful soft light and the gem is brilliant. I love the way you put an inscription inside the ring. Just in time for Valentines. Congratulations!
whoa;) amazing.. really neat ring man, lighting is awesome too ... now small criticism:) i assume ring is either laying on the floor or table - in which case bars (on floor/table) itself seem to be of rings size - too small (*wonders if you understood what i ment) .. anyways kewl work:)
What a beautifull job done here.Exceptionally pleasing on the eye.Well done.
Perfect in every way!!!
Great color and detail. Excellent work.
