I highly recommend a much more effective sunscreen lotion be applied by these beachgoers, who are about to experience a heavy dose of natural radiation and the damage it can cause to your skin, by that bright light in the near distance.

Your sense of satire could not be more accurate for the times we are living in Lordi, as some world leaders keep mentioning that a tactical nuke could be used and would be well within the standards of modern warfare. (a tactical nuke would have about the same power as the nuclear bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima)

Just something to think about for the times we are living in now...lets hope scenes like this one does not play out in the real world stage.

And yes, I remember the days when nuclear weapons were being reduced and scrapped. Today, even half-starved nations are clamoring for such weapons. And tactical nukes are a nightmare. Someone could carry one in a backpack, and I really don't want to see what happens when one of those things actually goes off...

Thanks, gmvgmvgmv. Unfortunately, that scenario has become conceivable again these days. And the mushroom—that’s a background image from the web. I just adjusted the lighting in Bryce to match the image and tweaked the atmospheric settings to make it look more natural :)

Superb work! People used to do this in Nevada, but not this close, if an atomic test was announced. I knew a sailor who watched two if these in the Pacific. On the second blast he kept his eyes open but sheltered in back of a shipmate. He got an X-ray view if the man's skeleton.

I imagine that being so close to the explosion leads to serious trouble very quickly; only if you’re lucky do you vaporize before the radiation gruesomely consumes you over the course of days.
