Description
I bought this a while ago but never got around to setting it up in Blender. It is a 1964 Ford T-850 tandem axle semi-tractor. The UV mapping test looked so good I decided to show it here along with the more sensible colour schemes. I have at least one trailer for it, though no knowledge of how to rig it with the trailer attached. However I have two YouTube videos saved in my account there that show how it is done, so I am going to learn.
I can always pose it without a proper rig by rigging the trailer separately and just parenting them together.
Now the bodywork is UV mapped I need to try and think up some company names to put on the truck, and some colour schemes to show it off at its best.

I rather like the psychedelic UV mapping test colours but red is good as well. Nice model.
How about ;Longhaul Freight' or 'Cross Country Haulage' as a couple of suggestions for company names? :-)
I would love to paint up a real vehicle with a UV test grid and see how many people got the reference! Back in the 1960s most of the haulage companies were named after places or their owners, so I am going to think along the same lines for authenticity. There were a lot of owner-driver single truck businesses too, and the Ford T series sold well to them.
And yes, it is a very nice model in spite of the lack of interior details. Thanks for visiting!
I'm not sure many of the average road users would get the reference to a UV test grid paint job. Many 3D artists wouldn't either as I've never seen it outside of Blender. But then, my ecperiance of other software packages is somewhat limited.
As for owner-driver company names, 'Staticon Logistics' would be an excellent name. :-)
Well thanks for making me laugh with the company name idea! I might even try to think of a way to use the Staticon name in at least one story if you're OK with that.
Although some big name 3D packages don't have embedded UV grids as Blender does a lot of 3D artists make their own and use them extensively, so they are not a new idea. Before Blender had them built in I made several in Photoshop and I used them a lot. Even 3D artists who don't actually use them usually know what they are, so they would get it. Most people would have no idea, so that would be part of the fun.
I'm fine with using my name in a story. Be aware, though, that I may have to be Staticon UK as there is a company in Canada with the same name. They make electrical good such as built-to-order, DC and AC power supply equipment and industrial battery chargers. :-)
