Poor Elorn. One more of his kind had been captured by the Synthoids for experimentation. Elorns were gentle herbivores, native to the endless wetlands of Elora IV. Lacking teeth or natural weapons, they had evolved remarkable spatial intelligence and exceptional dexterity. Their greatest defense had always been cooperation. No one knew how many had come before him, and no one had ever returned to tell the tale.
The containment field had been activated countless times before. The Synthoids recorded every reaction with cold precision, searching for answers hidden deep within alien biology. As the field slowly rose around the lone captive, the chamber fell into absolute silence. Every Synthoid remained motionless, watching for changes that no instrument could predict. Whether Elorn would survive the experiment, remember who he was, or even remain the same afterward was unknown. Only one certainty existed within the chamber: once the field was engaged, there was no turning back.
