However, it has never been proven that Newton actually arrived at the concept of gravity in that way. Still, it is a good piece of work.
I've always favoured the theory that he observed apples falling and thought up the theory of gravity rather than an apple actually falling on his head - but it is an amusing story and makes for a humorous image. :-)
