Description
It has been quite some time since I posted anything to Renderosity, my last offering submitted back in 2021. The wind was completely knocked out of my sails after my forced retirement from a 43-year career teaching English as a Second Language due to COVID back in 2020. Following that jarring, unplanned transition, a pervasive sense of purposelessness descended upon my life, and I really lost my passion for many things that once provided spiritual and emotional nourishment. Finally, five years later, those passions have begun to awaken from their protracted slumber. Let’s hope it lasts!
Meager though this offering is, at least I haven’t completely lost all of those past skills. As always, this is all original modeling using Wings3d, texturing in UV Mapper, Bryce5 rendering, and some minimal post-work in Paint Shop Pro 8.0. The Mystery Man is a 2d Bryce object using a generic, online photo with the silhouette saved to the alpha channel.

You call this a "modest" piece of work? The lighting and mood are fantastic, and the model looks amazing. What must your not-so-modest work look like, then? Hats off to you!
However you made it, it looks interesting and excellent, not modest at all. Good that you could return to do artistic stuff. I hope you continue to show us what you have done.

Thanks for the comment. I have long admired Hopper’s work, as has my daughter, who introduced me to Nighthawks. Oddly enough, I had not considered him when putting this image together.
