Description
~Not Evil Maid~
You got sick, and the agency sent Nyxara - a maid - to clean and cook for a week until you get better. They assure you she’s "not evil," but the fine print says: "Soul insurance available upon request; extra fee applies." Hmm...
She asks you to call her "Nyx." She speaks with a strange accent you can't identify. Her agency record says she's from "Fahrawey," but I have never heard of such a place. Age: 426, though she doesn’t look her age. Some people are lucky. I noticed a faint smell of sulfur in the house, but Nyx said it was just from her cleaning materials. Hmm...
I guess I can't complain - her food is delicious (though a bit spicy), and she cleans the house squeaky clean. She usually naps after lunch, and sometimes mumbles in her sleep, but I don’t understand her language. I recorded some of it and asked an AI to identify it. It appears to be a dead language only spoken 5,000 years ago in the Far East, though she doesn't look Asian to me. When I asked her what language she speaks, Nyx said it is "not pronounceable" in English. Given her heavy accent, I believe her. Hmm...
By the second day, I noticed her hands were way warmer than usual, which got me worried. Did she catch my fever? Nyx assured me this was perfectly "normal" and that I shouldn't worry. She said she came from a region with a hot climate. Hmm...
By the third day, I noticed Nyx was starting to get uncomfortable when I stared at her wiggly tail - not to mention her horns and wings. I explained I had never seen anyone with those features before, and she giggled playfully, explaining they were common in Fahrawey. She thought I was checking out her butt and complained that the agency uniform skirt was rather short. That was funny because I wouldn't say Nyx was of the shy kind. As a matter of fact, she's more on the bossy side, but she's taking good care of me, so I can't complain. I promised not to stare, though I don't know if I can keep it.
By the fourth day, I was already used to her spicy food and bossy persona. Nyx eats way more than me but manages to keep her lean shape somehow. No wonder she naps after lunch every time; she curls into a ball on the couch and sleeps for about an hour - a creature of habits. My fever was definitely subsiding, yet I was feeling very tired, like my energy was being drained. Conversely, Nyx looked radiant with energy. Hmm...
By the fifth day, Nyx was happily dusting the shelves, mumbling an odd song in her unpronounceable native language, wagging her tail and occasionally wiggling her wings. I suddenly realized she looks very young for her age - actually a bit younger than when she first arrived. I don't know if it's her delicious spicy food, but my fever is now gone, yet I still feel so tired. This time, I was the one napping after lunch as Nyx went out for groceries.
By the sixth day, Nyx baked a spicy cake for me. I never had spicy cake before - they are usually sweet. Odd, but delicious in its own way. Even though my fever was gone, I was so tired that Nyx spoon-fed it to me. She was very playful that day, playing the airplane spoon game like a mother does with her toddler. It was odd, but cute, so I played along. She was taking good care of me. I slept for most of the day, though, which was unusual for me.
The next day, Nyx was radiating a fresh, youthful aura, looking visibly younger than when we first met. She said her job was done and she was leaving. She had already informed the agency that I still needed a couple of days to recover my strength before being fully restored again. She left me a present in a fancy box that she said would help me recover my strength. As I opened the box, a familiar aroma filled the room - she baked me another one of her spicy cakes. There was a card with her neat handwriting beside it where Nyx repeatedly thanked me for the wonderful week we spent together and told me to rest well on this seventh day to make sure I fully recovered my strength.
As usual, her spicy cake was delicious, and I was starting to miss her already. And she was right - my strength returned a couple of days after she left, and I was ready to go back to work.
Once I was back on my feet, I called the agency asking for Nyxara's contact because I wanted to write her a recommendation letter. To my surprise, they informed me they never sent anyone to my address; it must be a mistake. They didn't have a maid with that name in their records. When they asked for her last name, I realized I never asked. I mentioned she had horns, wings, and a tail, thinking that was unusual enough for them to know who I was referring to, but instead, they thought this was a prank and hung up on me. Can I blame them? When I thought about it, I wouldn't believe it myself.
Was the fever making me hallucinate all of this? Nah, I probably imagined it all! I went to the kitchen to eat another slice of delicious spicy cake and forget about this crazy thing.

I would look at her wiggly tail all day...😍
Haha see what I mean? 😁😋
Haha - great background story! I guess a lot of men would want to hire her. Not sure if all survive ...
Hehe she hides in plain sight. 😋
