Yes, they can really put out a stink and if you are close to them that stink with get on you. When I was a child, somebody gave my Dad an old Blue Tic hound & they told Dad she was a good hunting dog. One night my Dad decided to take her rabbit hunting so he loaded the car with us kids and the dogs, we also had a Pitbull -German Shepard mix, and drove out to a country road where he let the dogs out. We drove along behind the dogs when the Blue Tic started chasing a small animal and caught it. When my Dad got out of the car he saw it was a skunk the dog had caught but she knew how to catch them where they were unable to spray, so she was a hunting dog just not rabbit hunting. we went another night & the other dog also caught a skunk but got sprayed all over. Dad made him walk home behind the car and I can't remember how many bathes he got to get rid of that smell & he never tried to catch a skunk again. The Blue Tic hound would always catch them and never got sprayed.

had two as pets. Better mousers than a cat. veery affectionate little critters. When I was three, they tell me. Dad saw three little ones and told me to catch the kitties. I did. They all regretted it for the next several days I am told. Love the little guys.
