Description
The castle of Duke William of Normandy, the conqueror of England in 1066 AD/CE, is located in Caen, France. William would not have recognized most of the fortress including this powerfully built gatehouse because much of it was constructed after his death in 1087. The castle is a must see if you are visiting Normandy to visit the D-day beaches of World War 2.

Indeed it was! Even better, it was a festival day and the locals representing the guilds marched through the castle in the traditional costumes of their occupations. Thanks for looking.
