The Queen of the Forest.
People whisper strange stories to each other. Stories that leave some speechless. But the reality is even more terrifying than the tales, so they say. This story was never written down, until now. I now invite you to hear the incredible story of the Queen of the Forest.
In the year 835 AD, a king ruled the kingdom of Wisimer. He had a soft heart and ruled more with wine and flowers than with scepter and sword. He had two wives. One lived in the palace, but the other, whom he had known since his youth, lived deep in the forest beyond many mountains. Amalia lived in a hermitage. Not much is known about her, but it is said that she was a witch who brewed elixirs from plants and minerals. The king had a daughter with her, Franziska, who was never seen in the city.
His rivals recognized his weakness and increasingly took the reins of power in the land. It wasn't long before cultural decay set in. Women could no longer move freely due to harassment, and the once beautiful harvest festivals degenerated into wild drinking bouts. The music became dull, and poverty, begging, and theft spread everywhere.
This continued until the most wicked of all decadent men, named Moramell, came up with the idea of driving out the king. He fled with some of his vassals, but many of them were murdered.
Franziska grew up in the forest. She knew all the trees, animals, and many of the forest's secrets. Her mother taught her archery, sword fighting, hunting, astrology, and spagyric medicine.
One day, Franziska encountered a nudist who had lost his way in the forest. He wore only a woolen coat, and when he saw the beautiful Franziska, he opened his coat, revealing his wretchedness. Franziska laughed briefly and touched him with an arrowhead, whereupon a hair-raising scream rang out, and the mole's hide burned, smoking. It is said that the mole still roams the forest today as a lump of flesh.
Furthermore, an encounter between robbers and Franziska is recounted. The robbers stole a ciborium from her. Afterward, they saw gold chalices, amulets, gold necklaces, chests of precious stones, and much more lying around everywhere, but as soon as they approached, it was either animal droppings or moldy fruit. They never found their way out of the forest again.
Franziska had a horse. It is said to have been a gift from the gods. It was the fastest horse in the entire kingdom.
When crime and immorality became rampant in the city, she appeared with a sword. She came with a few friends. These, too, had never been seen before, and it is not recorded where they came from. They put an end to the crime in the city. Eyewitnesses recounted that she beheaded seven armed men with a single stroke of her sword.
