She is trapped in a prison of her own creation. She could escape as she has the keys, yet she remains confined.

Notes:
This is a redux of an idea I originally had in 2009 or 2010 and I’ve recreated it a few times over the years. When I decided to create a new version of this artwork from scratch, I had ideas for more details to add including birds in the background. Sometimes less is more. I think it looks “just right” without superfluous details. I used a dull HDRI to create the realistic yet dim lighting for this scene. I really like the way it turned out. I also started work on a brand-new, more realistic hair shader. This is my first test-run of the new shader.

We all sit in the prisons we’ve built for ourselves from time to time. Very nicely done. The atmosphere really comes across well. New hair shader? :D OMG… I can’t wait to see the whole thing!

Been there, done that with the self-made prison thing. I think we all have, one time or another.. And you have captured it sooooo perfectly here, Lizzie! And you are so right about less is more at times. The god-rays in the background are perfect, and your lady is so gorgeous, even in her cell. Beautifully done!
