Description
As roughly 30 percent of the global population wear glasses, why isn't this reflected in characters?
I couldn't stop myself from wondering why but rather than sit by, I decided to have a crack at creating a new character with glasses but with a little twist, I like all my characters to have a part of me within them and I thought that maybe could inherit one of the few passions I still have from my youth.
I love photography, it's possibly the only thing that I still retain as a love from my pre-teen years (That's a long time ago now) and I thought it would be quite endearing and fun to give her this passion in the same way I was when I got my first SLR for Christmas one year and I still have it.
Though Pippy (Pip) has a slightly nicer camera than I started out with but we all start somewhere but she does at least have a Fuji just like me.
I'm not planning or intending to walk her into the almost given nerdy-kid territory that tends to be attached to kids and adults with glasses, I kind of just want her to be like any other kid, just she has glasses and likes photography.
She's very early in terms of design and general concept but if nothing else I can at least do something for the time being that is beyond needing or being constrained to a story.

I really like how you always give your characters something personal. And glasses are definitely a good thing, because, as you say, there are many people who wear them. Her love of photography is also a lovely character trait, or perhaps more accurately, an interesting one.
While translating, I was reminded of how my husband handed me one of his cameras shortly after we met, thus awakening my love of photography. Something that will stay with me until the end...

Thank you, it's something I quite like and have done from the very get go, Fae has my personality and OCD traits, she even gets angry the way I do, Evelyn has my Anime love etc, so I hope it adds a more human element to them while making them relatable too?
The glasses were a culmination of looking at sites and noticing that maybe 1 per hundred images had a character with glasses and wondering why that was (I guess it's because they are an arsehole to rig to a face, let alone simulate?) and my more mythological characters can't have glasses but my contemporary ones can so, why not start now?
Mine started with a battered up 110 camera then a quite heavy and clunky manual SLR but it's still in my possession even now and I suspect it will be until I finally come to pass and if nothing else all these props and plants I have been making for Isla's images will get a second purpose too.
I want that camera to be her pride and joy, kind of like Savena's steampunk glasses, where that camera will almost become part of her, I like passions like that, mainly as you come to realise how precious they truly are once you get older and how fortunate you were to find one or two passions like that.
