Thanks. Quick question: are ALL samurai now considered fanart? Because I see so many of them around on art sites and it gets a bit hard to keep track, especially as I don't follow the comics much nowadays. I thought these guys were all the traditional sort but who knows? And it's not an AI issue if anyone's wondering, I have the same confusion with a lot of newer 3D models. ::sigh:: Must be something to do with being old.
@Byrdie: Smile, it's also because of my age that I can't really answer your question. I'd have to ask my sons. There are so many fan art characters these days, as you said, that I don't really know much about them. So my comment was probably inaccurate. Anyway, I like the picture and it reminds me of characters from various comics ;-)
Yeah, I've seen quite a few of those comics around and I used to collect Ninja martial arts magazines back in the late 80s-early/mid 90s that came with simply fabulous centerfold posters. When it came to drawing my own characters -- this was ages before I discovered Poser or even had a computer -- I got a lot of my inspiration from them. And no doubt those artists were inspired by/paying homage to traditional art of samurai, ninja, etc. So the way I figure, if something's cool, then it's cool. :-)
But I do like to know if something I may not recognize is fandom or game related so that I can give proper credit wherever it's due.
