Description
Many of the artifacts in the exhibit were recovered by Paul. He led the first recovery mission to the Titanic in 1987 for RMS Titanic Inc. 6 of 8 RMST expeditions were led by him in 1987, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1998 and 2010. In 1998, they managed to raise a 17 ton piece of the Titanic's hull, the largest artifact recovered from the Titanic. He became Director of Underwater Research in 2010 for RMS Titanic Inc. He also led the dive which produced the first sonar map of the entire wreck site.
Holding the record, he had made 37 manned submersible dives to the Titanic. On June 18, 2023, he was on his 38th dive when he and four others perished at sea.
He kept coming back to the wreck site because he kept seeing new things and it was a new experience each time.

Impressive, but a not so nice ending!
Indeed! It's sad he and the others lost their lives trying to learn more about the Titanic for us all...
