Description
In the exhibit they had an 'iceberg' that you could touch to feel the temperature.
The night of April 14, 1912, the North Atlantic water was very cold. Being below freezing, it was close to 28 degrees Fahrenheit. Salt water freezes at a lower temperature than fresh water, the ocean was colder that night than the freshwater iceberg they had for you to touch in the exhibit (and that was pretty cold!). Most died from hypothermia rather than drowning.
