Description
Even making it into the lifeboats didn't mean you survived - many died from the cold as they waited for rescue; rescue that seemed hopeless.
As Charles Lightoller, the Second Officer recalls, they managed to make it to daybreak and there the Carpathia arrived and rescued the ones waiting in the lifeboats and then headed out to New York.
