I rendered this, single Daz render, plenty of bloom and simply a play with light and dark.....kinda a Terminator feel I guess but just liked how it looked at the end of the day :)

I love making a full scene but only when it adds to the story so your right...less is more as I could have spent hours filling this scene but would have lost the impact I was going for :)

Yeah this is movie time rendering, nice work. I think being able to see the subjects breath in a cold air would really sell the scene.
That is a top idea and something I have taken to heart next time I create something like this and trust me, I will be pulling this back into Daz at least to see if it can be done there or in post. I never thought of doing that (obviously...lol) as I viewed this character as a cyborg but that you heaps for the feedback :)
