Hi all and hope your well :)
Have been catching up today and more of you to visit tomorrow.
This render is an evolution from when I did those renders for JohhnyM a while back. The light sabre was the hardest part for me and still not 100% happy with it but it is what it is for now :)
This is 3 separate and full renders with different lighting then worked the layers together in Photoshop CS3

Thank you and was 2 light layers....1 red....1 green and then a red/green back light layer behind Darth to pick up the Alien. Not great colors to work with usually but sometimes I get it right :)

Hi, a very interesting couple. If that isn't a love story ;) I haven't rendered in a while. But I can't leave this as it is... A very beautiful scene, and I can hardly count how many times I've failed with the lightsaber theme. The props I use (and there are quite a few; many vendors have created something like this) look very similar, with multiple cylinders that have different emission. And this is an incredible tinkering with this kind of light. I'm still not happy with the post-processing, so I'm still rendering in the software and using the bloom there. Unfortunately, it always affects the entire image. I'll upload my interpretation in a new render. But I'm happy with my interpretation now. The image itself is top-notch, of course! The lady's saliva looks especially amazing ;)

Doing stand alone renders as you do makes the whole process hard when using things like light sabres, bloom is awesome but also has its own issues as you point out. To finish this I blurred the light sabre in post and deleted everything else to get this look.

If I was making a light sabre now, I'd just paint it in with my ol' PSP using several different layers of sharp and blurred lines, while the character is illuminated separately by hidden light.
And what ever happened to Johnny? He hasn't returned from his trip yet?
That is a great idea regarding the light sabre, never thought of it in those terms before and as for Johnny....IDK but hoping he will return one day but cannot fault him if he doesn't as most sites have declined in recent times.

The colors and atmosphere are just as everyone has pointed out...they are phenomenal my friend! This is truly a dramatic and well thought out scene that will make any Darth Vader/Alien fan proud! It's an Instant favorite with me! :-)
