For our final “Hot Car Summer” entry, let’s travel to the year 2050, and take a ride in the brand new Mercedes Benz Biome. Imagine if you will, a vehicle that is not built in a factory, but grown in a lab. This ecologically sustainable sedan is made from a material called “BioFibre” which is lighter than metal or plastic, yet stronger than steel. The resulting car only weighs in at 875.5 lbs (around 394 kg), and would also be completely biodegradable. Genetically engineered “seeds”, programmed with each customers specific requirements, are combined with the two Mercedes Star emblems at the front and rear of the vehicle to “grow” the car (the exterior from the front, the interior from the rear). The wheels are then grown from four separate “seeds”. Once on the road the vehicle runs on "BioNectar4534" which is stored in the car's “BioFibre”, of which the only by-product is oxygen. Think of it as a mobile plant, absorbing sunlight, converting it into energy, and releasing clean air into the environment.
