Description

Here's another snake from the upcoming "Snakes" base set, the California Whipsnake, which also goes by the common name, Two-line Racer. It's actually a fairly common snake in our yard (we also get the Southern Pacific Rattler and Gopher Snake). The image was rendered in Iray and uses my "Sagebrush Habitat" models. The California whipsnake is a "near-threatened" species, endangered by habitat destruction. It is found in the coastal, desert, and foothills of California. It prefers woodlands, grasslands, chaparral scrublands, and riparian habitats. It is known to eat a variety of live animals including insects, lizards, snakes, birds, and small mammals. It shows a strong preference for lizards, which are captured by a grasp of the mouth, and swallowed alive. It is 90–120 cm (36–47 inches) in total length. It is slender, with a yellowish stripe along each side, set against a dark brown or black back. It is not venomous, but likely to strike if captured.

Yes it is and don't forget about the Coastal Taipan, King Brown, Eastern Brown, Copperhead, Tiger snake, Red Belly Black to name a few.

We have over 140 species of land snakes here but only 100 are venomous and of those only 12 will kill you we also have 32 species of sea snake and they are all dangerous to humans I believe :)

I will be looking forward to seeing the Taipan :)
