Description
I loved the #mellow sound of this 430 cubic inch Wildcat motor in my 1967 C-7 until like the Pontiac in the 1953 Ford convertible it played out the spun bearing #knock from sitting so long before being restarted after a rebuild. The Pontiacs eventually had mains bigger than the 3 inch ones in my relook at what was a 322 cubic inch Loadmaster in a 1956 Chevrolet asphalt tandem I would refuel when the Pinnebog road was being paved. Gee! did the front oil pump take that long to feed the mains. The crank spun great sitting on the cradle before installation. Climbing a hill on the newly widened road to the desert at cruise throttle was a breeze. The 2-1/2 inch exhaust? Some bends and straight sections of tubing a pair of tin snips and my acetylene torch I bought after Fullerton Junior college and the topper!! Two Turbo-Corvair reverse-flow mufflers and a full-length set of equally made-up tailpipes all the way back to under the tailgate.

My next-door neighbor now has a turbo-Buick V-6 from what was once the Buick intermediate in a Porsche sports roadster. Across the street is a Camaro convertible with a 496 Chevrolet "porcupine." I have not personally purchased a GM product since 1967 due to the misery of SMOG and Safety regulations. In spite of this I did try to assist the SATURN Corp. to persist longer than the Corvair, beginning in 1987. Just a couple days ago my sister and I rode in an UBER that was a Chevrolet Volt. Now if I only could go to Denver and ride in an UNSER Indy car!
