Description
Two low flying Grumman J2F "Ducks" pass a destroyer on patrol during WW2. The J2F was primarily used by the US Navy and Marines from the mid-1930s until shortly after the war for reconnaissance and rescue operations. With its distinctive float-blended fuselage and retractable landing gear, the Duck's strong point was its durability and versatility.
I recently watched the movie "Murphy's War" with Peter O'Toole which featured some impressive flying in a J2F (not a bad movie either!). So if you want to see the bird in action, that's a good place to start. Some good clips on youtube.
I re-discovered this model in my archives (I think I got it quite a while ago on Turbosquid free, but don't quote me), and thought it would make another interesting project. So plopped it into Blender, made the mesh usable for my purposes, did some re-texturing and presto! (well, not really presto, but you know.).
Blender, DazStudio, some minor polishing in PsE and no AI.

Well made. You feel the salty air and hear the engines roaring...

Thanks, I really appreciate your comments!

A plane most WW2 aviation buffs might not recognize. The "Candy Clipper" of Bataan and Corregidor was a J2F that was damaged on Bataan by the Japanese, and put back into service bringing supplies in and flying out personnel.

It is a very cool looking aircraft in my opinion, clunky and graceful at the same time. From its history, it was a very versatile craft. I'm sure, like the PBYs, a welcome site to many a downed airman. Thanks for stopping by to leave your thoughts on my work. I always appreciate it!

Ah, excellent. The destroyer looks like its just gone all ahead full too. Theyve spotted something? This charming ugly ducking looks like a baby to the catalina's swan. But like you say, when someone is soaked and exhausted... it probably looks like a clipper up there.
