I would bet you a box of muffins that this character would turn a really dull party into a day of excitement nobody would ever forget ;-)
There are a lot of legends surrounding Tengu, many of them suggest they are teachers ... I doubt they are ever dull to be around and I'm certain I wouldn't want one of them swatting my hands with a ruler for poorly learned lessons =(
