Description
A tree species originally native to Mexico, Central America, and Brazil, but brought to the "Old World" centuries ago by Portuguese sailors.
In the capital of Portugal, Lisbon, there are entire avenues lined with these vibrantly colored trees, and anyone lucky enough to vacation there during the flowering season shouldn't miss this sight! I had this opportunity in the early 1980s and was deeply impressed by the splendor of this color.
