In the seas of our planet there must now be thousands, if not tens of thousands, of shipwrecks from all historical periods, from Roman galleys to modern oil tankers: sunk in storms, sunk in acts of war, capsized due to human error or deliberately discarded and placed on the seabed as a new home for corals and other creatures.
