Description
Ah, look at all the lonely people. Where do they all come from?
Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been.
Lives in a dream
Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door.
Who is it for?
The face that she’s wearing is her made up face from the makeup jars on her dressing table that is located near the door of her room. She’s one of the lonely people and lives in a dream. So, who is the made up face for? Herself?
This is the most plausible explanation that I’ve heard for the meaning of Paul’s lyrics. It makes sense because in the era of Miss Rigby, women’s makeup was indeed stored in jars. So, this story is now my story and I’m sticking with it.

It's a Beatles song written by Paul McCartney.
Just stunning... always look forward to seeing your artwork. Great touch with her trying on her daughter's outfit lol jk Outstanding work, my friend!
America did a version, but called Lonely People.(1975) don't give up until you drink from a silver cup.
