A (Tongue-in-Cheek) History Lesson: Ramesses II ( a.k.a.” Ramesses the Great,” a.k.a “Big Daddy”), was the longest living and longest ruling Pharaoh in Egyptian history. He lived to be somewhere between 90-96 years old. It’s hard to discern his exact age because his limestone etched death certificate was dropped and broken into several pieces, when his mummy was being prepared. After that, no one was able to decipher if the number after the 9 was a “0” or a “6.” Even though his main squeeze was wife, Nefertari, he also had 20 different other wives and 180+ concubines in his lifetime (hence the nickname, Big Daddy). Not only that, he fathered 96 sons and 60 daughters! He was undoubtedly the busiest ruler of all time! And even with all that, he found time to play some golf at the local dunes! He was so popular that a cartouche was discovered on a wall inside the Great Pyramid with a hieroglyph that roughly translated said “for a good time call Big Daddy at (Thebes) VI-III-IV-V-VII-VIII-IX.” So, it’s very understandable that if you were presented the opportunity to pose for a “selfie” with the "Big Guy," you did it . . . . . whether or not he was alive or (as in this case) dead.
