Mars Lander USS Cumberland
This is the second redesign (and I hope the last) of my model the Mars Lander USS Cumberland that will attached to my new spaceship the USS Independence. After rendering several images of this model I saw numerous flaws in the design that would make a real ship in my opinion problematic. Everything from the hatch to the maneuvering thruster have been either redesign or reconfigured to make a more believable spacecraft. The model was created in Bryce5 from scratch, all concepts and designs by me. This is part of my new series showing how you can build a spaceship just using the Boolean primitives in Bryce5. I must admit one thing though; the maneuvering thruster nozzles and main thrusters

Looks like R2-D2's chubby twin...lol. Actually this is incredibly detailed work. I change that; this is amazingly detailed work.
Good modeling ,try working on some textures, just to give it that "real" look. DIrty it up a bit.
looks like 75 tons of cruisin' Bot !!! really like the drawing layout, reminds me of plastic model kits when i was a kid. Revell, look out! Bambam's here! but the mass budget is blown!
Looks realy cool. Even though I don't see anything that could not be made with booleans too (even if I don't have the patience to make something like this with booleans myself and it will cost a LOT of work more than using Rhino)... Ohh one thing: In the back view the inside of the upper main thruster seems to lack the blue texture that the other three have.
Your models are always an inspiration. The only suggestion I can make for improvement is to round the corners of the cabin windows - they would be less likely to crack in real life.
Shame on you David, you used Rhino!!! :) Just joking, of course, because that's another wonderful modelling job. I have to correct you, tho: when you say "showing how you can build", you ought've said "showing how I can build"... as usual, your work is inspiring. Keep up postin' 'em, I can't wait to see the final!
Mrodobird, thanks for the comment but, question, why would you dirty it up? The ship is built on earth, launched into low orbit, than attached to the Independence. (It's brand NEW) It doesn't get dragged through anything. Kylara, thanks for your comment also, I believe the reason you don't see the blue texture as you see in the other thrusters is because of the way the light is hitting the thruster. I hope this helps, cheers. David ;-)
