Description

Here's tarantula #4 (of the 6 that I created for "Spiders of the World v2") in an image I call, "I Walk the Line". This particular species was discovered near Fulton County Prison (in California) and thanks to its discovery location and its almost all black appearance it was aptly named, Aphonopelma johnnycashi. The "Man in Black" tarantula is not aggressive and does not pose a threat to humans. They eat mostly Insects (crickets, worms, roaches, locusts); occasionally lizards and even young rodents.

I am fond of Johnny Cash. My wife and I have appreciated a lot his museum in Nashville. I appreciate your humor too!

Aphonopelma johnnycashi was found in 2015 near Folsom Prison in California and named after Johnny Cash, whose song "Folsom Prison Blues" made the prison famous.( Wikipedia )
