Description
Yes, it's an oldie. Again. 2015.
Poser 9 or PP2014, not sure which.
Something rather different.
I think I had to combine two renders in GIMP, because a Penrose triangle is impossible.

Still cool!
Thank you
Different. I like this. :-)
Sometimes it's very difficult to tear yourself away from the NVIATWAS trope ;o) But when you do it can be worth the effort.
Excellent, a wonderment of ideas here.
Thanks. I think the inspiration for this was coming across a Youtube video of Roger Penrose doing a talk about non-repeating tiling, kites and arrows and all that (that subject's been in the news recently because the first ever non-repeating monotiles were found). I did some googling and realized that this classic optical illusion was named after him. At the time somebody (Hypnagogia?) had tried to produce, with some success, a 3D model of an impossible object (search on ShareCG). This is really a child of those disparate influences.
Intriguing, I often stay up late watching YouTube on various subjects like this. I'll be sure to add this to my watch later, thanks for the insight.
Video title was "Roger Penrose - Forbidden crystal symmetry in mathematics and architecture" from the Royal Institution channel. And it was kites and darts, not arrows. And it was hynagogia's "Belvedere" and "Belvedere Illusion model" at ShareCG.
