Description

"Gonna be a bitch climbing outta here," Luella grumbled as she carefully descended into the Bone Chapel. Darya played her flashlight on the altar. "The remains of hundreds of the coven lay in the ossuary. Don't worry about climbing out, Lu; I can easily climb that rope and then pull you up after if needs be." "Any sign of an entrance to the Sorceress' crypt?" Luella wondered as she neared the end of the rope. Molly's art notes: Set up and rendered with Poser 13.0.339 using the Superfly Cycles X rendering engine. Luella is based on Faith by jibicoco with some modifications for Miki 4 by Tempesta3d. Darya is based on Selenne by jibicoco with some modifications for V3 that are no longer available. The scene is the Ossuary by Cybertenko. I used the volume prop from Afroditeo-Ohki's "Level Up!" product to help generate "God Rays". The business of hazy atmosphere and "God Rays" is something I'm working to improve my skills with and that's largely what inspired this image. As for the characters, I love jibicoco's stuff which is available at ShareCG and should use it more often.🥰 A word on the lighting and "God Ray" creation is in order. The picture is lit by two spotlights (one shining through the hole through which the raiders have descended by rope and one parented to Darya's flashlight) and emissive material on the candle flame. The volumetric atmosphere is due to Afrodite-Ohki's volumetric prop from her "Level Up!" product with the material set at medium. I did another picture with these characters so that you could see them better and it is found here: The mouth of the shaft to the Bone Chapel

Thanks, Steve. I had to go with a pretty dimly lit image if I was going to get the "God Ray" effect I wanted. As is usually the case, I got WAY carried away with it! XD

I like the tone and light - and keep at it with the atmospheric effects. Look great in here and they can work wonders!

Thank you, JD. I am certainly interested in improving my ability to use volumetric effects and interesting lighting. As always, I had to do more than just do a little test image and yet another potential story is born. XD

Thank you, my dear! Working with dimly lit scenes is interesting to me and I hope I'm improving. Using atmosphere to get "God rays" is another ongoing project that came out fairly well here. =)

Not sure how I saw the other "Bone Chapel" image but missed this one... lol But it's every bit as fabulous as last! Amazing lighting with the candle casting Luella into almost a silhouette and then the god rays catching Darya on just her right side. Very beautiful and atmospheric. I also love how you give us art notes with your images so we can learn from your excellent examples. Thank you!

Thank you for the encouragement! It's good to know that someone reads my art notes! XD Kidding aside, I always hope someone will find something helpful and if I don't address content or technique that is seen in my pictures and then am asked about it. I'm always happy to talk about what I used or how I managed something. I just love this stuff! =)
