Description
Here's one of the stars of my latest Nature's Wonders sets... the Thylacine Darner.
This endangered dragonfly is found in Australia. It is endemic to coastal areas of both southern and northern New South Wales, as well as, southern Queensland and found in intertidal marches. It is threatened by habitat loss.
It is the only member of the Acanthaeschna genus. It is a large, brown dragonfly with a distinctive dark band on the side of its body that runs from the head to the abdomen. It has clear wings with a small dark stain at the nodus, the joint near the middle of the leading edge of each wing. The female is a lighter hue than the male.

yes, they will eat them. Fact about dragonflies: they are considered the most effective hunters on the planet, catching their prey 97% of the time
