After all this time, I still have no concept of how a lot of this stuff works... perhaps a blessing rather than a curse. My current medium of choice is "photography", but it seems to be a seasonal thing. I suppose many of the posts are seasonally based/oriented, so no complaints... be patient and express your art as it appears to you. Insofar as Artificial (anything) goes, as long as we view it as a filler or guide, rather than a life mission :) we should keep the solid foundation built by previous artists.

There seems to have been a dark cloud over everything last year...may it lift for you soon. (And you're finding things you didn't know you had? I truly believe if we turned our computers upside down and shook them, 8 gazillion papers, pics, notes, affidavits, lawsuits, last wills and testaments and god knows what else would fall out of them---ka-chunk! I so sympathize. My epitaph will read, "he had more stuff than anyone should be allowed to even dream of...")

A classy scene, you placed Nicola right in the open spot, in this tranquil neighborhood shot (w/ truck and convenient store in the background). She also blends in in her tones. A smart and very well composed piece, as always, with her to one side and the AI sign to the other. And it's summer there too---how'd you manage that! (considering I'm writing this on jan 2d!) (She wouldn't be wearing that low-cut front outfit if she were standing in Chicago! Hoo boy, would she have a chill...) Clothed, lit and shadowed with panache as always. A classy image.

I know some AI artists who do use repeated prompt sessions (to perfect), and add much to the image, and attribute everything openly---ie, listing their prompts, what they added, what was AI, etc, which is the proper way of doing it. (Barb/bakapo's a fine example.) But it's a wide open undefined field, and your frustrations are wholly understandable. AI is coming to Photoshop, which I assume will get the developers to explain everything. Ie, take away the mystery, make clear how it works, where they get their material, and remove anything---and I mean anything---that is stealing, etc. Serious artists don't want stealing anymore than serious viewers. AI needs to come forward, and I believe that being incorporated into pro software (PS, Painter, etc) will force the issue. The big companies are too beholden to customers and the market to allow anything less. I hope that, with exposure, they'll start to explain their methods and keep the software totally clear. And then it'll up to the artists to say how much they contributed, and how much AI contributed. As an early member of Creative Commons (which is all about attribution), I hope AI gets on board with the pro softwares and opens up their books so to speak. The pro companies will force it, I hope. And the burning issues will hopefully be put to rest. It'll be used the way models are used now, or the way I use starting images (my own) to build an abstract. I think it will happen. But AI needs to step up and speak more. That's a good first step.

I totally agree, Big Bro. Same here, not a fan of it although I heard from others that eventually there will be no more jobs for Artists. Meh, I don't think so. Happy New Year too, may it be a great year for everyone!

Yeah, I don't think AI is going to put us out of business (not that I make any $$ doing this), and it's certainly not going to replace artists if it goes out and "harvests" imagery off the internet to create it's images. I played a little bit with MidJourney - until it wanted into my PayPal account. if I used AI at all it would be as a tool, and not the final creator of a work, then just claim it as mine. I think Mark pretty much nailed it in his comment above.

I am in the process of getting a double backup for my poser content and I certainly can relate to your experience after having stuff all the way back to 2008 I've worked on and as a dyed in the wool certified computer runtime hoarder, my computer hard drives runneth over!
