Description
50 years ago this month, Carlos Santana finished the recording of the band's 4th album, the ground-breaking "Caravanserai" which marked a departure from the latin-rock fusion, to a jazz oriented experimental sound. Santana was told he was committing "career suicide" at the the time, and while it arguably marks the beginning of the decline in the band's popularity in the later 70s, it is still regarded as an artistic success and one of the most creative albums of its era. It still sounds fresh today with its mix of reflective ambience, spirituality and musical complexity.
This image is play on the iconic (I use the word advisedly) blue and orange cover art, and the title comes from my favourite track (and one I jam a lot at home!)
