She had merely been a passenger on this freighter. Keeping a low profile was just a necessity in her life. Traveling aboard freighters of this type had become just a routine for her; paying a little cash and leaving no records of her movements or existence. She had been relaxing in a bunk when the first reports of attach on their freight group had been reported. And now the intruder alarms were sounding throughout the entire vessel. Her first thought was of Pirates. She had heard the sounds of weapons fire, some screams and angry shouting. She had been in this situation before. It was a constant threat when traveling as she did. She strapped on and moved to the door. There were always options and a way out of every box. That had always been her thinking in every situation that went sideways. Now was no different. If there were pirates aboard; they may get lucky and take her down, but not without a fight. She peered cautiously out into the corridor. She was expecting shoddy dressed beings scurrying frantically and with little in the days of any coordination. She pulled back against the frame. She had never seen them before, but she had heard of them. "Romulans." The mouthed the word silently to herself. Everything now changed. She tightened her grip on her laser pistol. Standard tactic; wait until they were within five feet, then spring. She could take them all down in that instant of surprise. All she had to do was get to the small shuttle deck. Her ship was not warp capable, but she could hide in the debris field until someone arrived. She had done that before. She flipped the selector on her weapon to disrupt.
