I love how the child is interacting with the "Maidservant at a Window"! That the maidservant is about to water a plant held by the child strikes me as a lovely metaphor for how art can inspire and lead to growth. Thank you for sharing this lovely picture. Both characters are so well realized and pleasing to view!

Charmingly done as always, the interplay is a delight. As always there is more than meets the eye, with Dou's young maidservant now elderly and wiser, perhaps conveying some of her life lessons to the young girl...
