Molly's art notes: Set up and rendered in Poser 12.0.757 with a bit of tweaking in Photoshop for clarity and addition of a subtle vignette. The warlord is based on the Koji mesh with a Chinese Emperor outfit that is legacy Poser content. His female warrior chief is based on V4 with a costume by --Wartech--. The scene is from Stonemason (I am saddened that he no longer creates for Poser and I am too lazy, so far, to import some of his newer scenes).

Personally i would have swapped their personality or persona around...female warlord, there have been plenty throughout history, still dose not detract from what is a superb image and quality work in every area...faultless in visual appeal and technical ability....!!

Love the oriental look of this quality render Molly. I enjoy that pool in front of them with the cobblestones. Just missing those koi fishes in the water.

Thank you, Mazzam. I'm sure you agree from what I've seen in your work, but legacy content still renders very well in Poser and that backward compatibility is one of the main reasons I stick with the it rather than switching to Daz Studio.

Impressive render! Is this the beginning of a new story?
Thank you for the kind comment, Annie! I will probably do more pictures using these characters (particularly the Warrior) but I don't have a clear story in mind. I did it for a break from the Space Rangers story which is presenting some technical challenges that I am working on. Of course, I never finished my tale of Lilja Darkstar (who has been abducted), Marlena (the New Woman who is fronting an invasion for Alien Overlords) or the Envoys (last we saw, Beta was in need of rescue after an unfortunate meeting with a jerk on a personal watercraft). So many ideas... >.<

Fantastic render! I love everything about it, and your light is amazing. I agree re Stonemason, I love his Street of Asia scenes (and a lot of his other stuff)
Thank you, Cassandra. Yep, this is one of the Streets of Asia series and it holds up very well even though it's many year old. The man is a genius. I'm pleased you like the lighting, I set it up myself rather than relying on some product. The Poser background with an HDRI is such a good basis; I need to keep working on it. The lighting is a background HDRI and one infinite light; so simple yet it worked out well! =)

Thanks, JD. I believe I have everything Stonemason ever did for Poser and it's been a few years now since he has sold any content that is not for DAZ Studio. I've been looking at converting some of his more recent stuff but have been too lazy to get to it. One of these days... =

really nice posing and lighting on the figures, Molly, they seem to move which is the best indicator of a natural pose and stance, I like the animation feel to the render too, somehow more interesting (given my exposure to anime here in Japan), in short, super image
Thank you, Paul! I do like oriental imagery and while I'm not a huge fan of Anime and Manga I have some favorites: Full Metal Alchemist, Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop to name but a few. Static posing drives me nuts! Such a waste of potential imagery. I always try (although not always successfully) to achieve the feeling of motion or intent in my pictures. My dabbling with animation has been very rudimentary but I suppose I may go there one day. =D

Thank you, Anne. I always look forward to your comments. I don't know that the Warrior's garments are particularly authentic but the Warlord is pretty much a real look. In the end, it's a fantasy picture, right?

I love this, from the characters to the lighting. Have you ever heard of the amazing game that is "Jade Empire"? This scene gives me Jade Empire vibes... which is a VERY great thing. It's one of my all-time favorites. :)

ohhhh, well this is amazing Molly! Definitely worthy as the main pic of February's showcase! Wonderful work with these older characters, it just goes to show you that in the right hands they still maintain their worth. Keep bringing on that legacy content, you definitely know how to breathe new life into it!
Thank you, Ruby! I'm always surprised that more people don't dive a bit deeper into their Poser library. Koji and his outfit needed hardly any tweaking to look so good and Victoria 4? What a reliable work horse she is! XD
I admit to loving La Femme and L'Homme and am always excited when Tempesta3D or Afrodite-Ohki, among others, put something new on the market but there's nothing wrong with legacy content.
