Ever feel really proud of a bit of work you've done and then have to scrap it because a friend felt as if you were just making a digital version of them?
Yeah...
Anyway, Gloria Ver 2. Almost the same pose, a little different angle, better hair, better bed. I improved what I needed to improve and also invented a new character. Yay.
Feeling quite cynical lately, so I've been avoiding people. Best that way, I think. I hope nobody feels offended. You'd probably feel more offended if I were as active as I was. Just not to enthused with life as of late. Besides my own health concerns, I'm dealing with a high chance that I'll lose my mother in the next 12 months. 100% guaranteed if she doesn't get this surgery, and then a 50% chance if she does. That's a lot just to process, but I've been primary caregiver for the past several years. Not doing the best job taking care of myself, and starting to feel as if I'm failing her, too. Just plain crabby.
Needless to say, I haven't been making a lot of art. I did a bit of work on my comic, but I didn't finish the page I was working on which is why I haven't uploaded it. It's extremely difficult to find motivation for anything. Pretty much, I've just been playing Minecraft where most of the time I feel as if I'm at the least, reasonably competent in the things I enjoy doing in the game.

Couple thinks Lyle... First, Sorry to hear about your mother. Went through something similar with my mother some years back and it's still not the same. Second. Do what you need to do to get things sorted. The art and comics will be there when you're ready, and we'll be here to look. Third. The character looks great. Guessing you've used one of Prae's hair sets, which is a lot better than the other. If your friend is offended by looking like this character, she needs an attitude adjustment on the matter. I'd be flattered...

Yup! Used a set from Prae this time.
She wasn't so much as offended as a little creeped out. I don't think it helps that I'm in love with her. Which she knows. However, honestly, I didn't see the connection myself. Now that it's been pointed out...
Problem is, I have another character that I think looks almost exactly like her that I won't even load up. Now to be careful with Khemsit? Ugh. It's ok. This version is just fine.

I think she looks fantastic, Lyle - you really did a fantastic job on her, and the hair is a lot better. Agree with jdwtrxk on this person being offended - makes no sense.
It can be really challenging to be motivated at times. Going through some of that myself with all the bulls##t going on in the world lately. I sometimes have to force myself to sit down and work on my TNS story, but once I get started, the world seems to recede into the background. We all have to process life in our own way, and our own time. Take the time you need, my friend. We'll still be here.

I'm getting there. Slowly, but I am. Things move at a glacial pace sometimes, and then I wake up and realize October is over and I haven't finished my book as I planned. Going to be an awkward NaNoWriMo, but then it was last year, too.

Your Mum needs you at your best right now but you need respite care arranged for your Mum while there is still time. I have cared for two Wives and a Mother with cancer and I know just a little of how you must be feeling. Sadly, things are different where you live and there is no National Health Service where a short term Hospice place could be arranged for your Mum. It's amazing what these people at the Hospice can do for her quality of life. She doesn't have to be terminally ill, but those Hospices really are such caring places. Stay safe! sincerely, Steve

I have suggested some short-term care and have been soundly rebuked for it. My Grandma was abused in a care home, so Mom is pretty adamant that she stays out of them. I worry though, because I know eventually she'll reach a point beyond my ability to care for.

You know, it's funny because people keep telling me to look after myself, and to do what makes me feel good, and so on. It can be disheartening because what would really make me happy is just not being so alone in the whole thing. Sure, Mom lives with me but it isn't the same. I'm her caregiver. And on those days when I'm struggling the most, I just want somebody there for me.

I agree with jdwtrxk and RodS. Do what you have to do and w'll be here when you're ready. Take care of yourself and do what you can. Hope that your mother beats the odds.

With what you are going through, i hope you don't beat yourself up and that you take things at your own pace. There are so many things we don't control and that all we can do is respond to, and try to make more positive. You keep the faith !!!!
