Yep, still working on this project. This model set is now more or less ready for animation, with only minor tweaks to a few of the materials needed in the ship itself. The shuttles are ready to go. I have worked out how to switch the lights on and off inside the shuttles by using texture settings with baked in lighting in the texture maps, so I can show the shuttles with lighting in the windows like Discovery II herself. Now we see the ship carrying two fat, bulky shuttles, one above and one below. Due to the changes it causes to the ship's centre of mass when one shuttle is absent the launch cradles can only be fitted in the middle mounts, limiting the ship to carrying six such modules, though two — as fitted here — is much more common. Three is not too rare, more than three is generally not seen except when the ship is used as a delivery transport for shuttles. The blue door seen on one of the habitat modules can open to launch or receive small shuttles such as FireDreams or other equally small ships. I hope next weekend to start work on animating these ships.
