Well, I'm sure it was - somewhere.... After a few fairly brief - but heavy - storms rolled through around 03:30 this morning (with some minor seepage in the basement - nothing drastic), I spent most of the day cleaning up from the heavy winds and rain. There were a few branches down, but no damage to the house. Much of the day was spent cleaning out the gutters - again - and finding a few places it needs replaced. We will probably be contacting a contractor to do the work. I'll also be getting some quotes on getting the roof replaced. Much of the flooding may well be due to the guttering not doing its job, and directing the rainwater away from the house. I must have scooped a half-ton of crap out of those gutters. They fill up fast with multiple large trees in close proximity to the house. I like trees as much as the next guy, but - should we luck out and be able to find another place we can afford - I'll NEVER buy another house with trees anywhere near it. They provide shade, true. But they also provide endless hours of adventures climbing ladders 2 stories up to clean all the crap they dump into the gutters. Jo got this photo of me taking a quick break. It really doesn't show the dirt, mud, tree debris all over me, but trust me... By the time I got this job done I looked like I just crawled out of a sewer. We can't wait to get out of here...
